NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEMES

N.S.S or National Service Scheme is chalked out by the Govt. of India and meant for the recreation of a new India with the active participation of the young India. The college units of N.S.S acts as a knowledge bridge in between the college and the village. It is meant Socially Useful Productive Works and Nation Building Programmes of any kind. In our college, there are four N.S.S units- Three for Boys and One for Girls. Our volunteers- activists sincerely conduct different Nation Building Programmes and Socially Useful Productive Work in the nearby villages. Its motto is ‘NOT ME BUT YOU’

RULES

THE National Service Scheme Committee is consists of 1. Principal – Chairman, 2. N.S.S. Prog.Officer - Secretary, 3. Lecturer Volunteers interested in Social Service and the student representatives who are the leaders of the student teams working on different projects.

Function of the Committee.

The committee is the chief policy determining and programme approving body of all N.S.S. activities in the college.

2. Enrolment

There are three Boys’ Units and one Girls’unit of N.S.S. Each unit consists of 50 volunteers - activists. Desirous student may apply to the Principal on or before a stipulated date in a prescribed Application from which can be obtained from N.S.S. office for enrollment. After due scrutiny selection will be done by “The National Service Scheme Committee”.

Activity:-

a) An N.S.S student volunteer must have to work at least for 120hours in a year out of which 20 hours can be used in the First year for orientation Programme in the following manner

General Orientation …………….. 2hours

Specific Orientation …………….. 8hours

Programme skill learning…………….. 10hours

In November 2012 the volunteers of our college conducted a Sadvabana Campaign and cultivated the spirit of social unity and communal harmony among the people of the nearby villages.

In the last winter and summer the +2 N.S.S. Unit’s volunteer-activists served the people of Nagaspur village in a special camp at the nearby Jagannath temple complex.

At the end of July this year, our volunteers organized a Dengue awareness drive in the nearby villages in response to its epidemic character in the state.

The National Service Scheme Committee is comprised of:-

1. Principal, Ex-officio Chairman.

2. N.S.S. Programme Officers of 4 units.

3. Advisor, College Students’ Union.

4. Lecturer Volunteers interested in Social Service and the student representatives who are the leaders of the student teams working on different projects.

The volunteers maintain discipline and render their valuable services in the local grand functions of Mahapurusha Achyutananda particularly in Astaprahari and Snanpurnima Yatra . Our NSS Units have carefully chalked out many social service programmes for the near future.
